What is laser hair removal?

How many sessions do I need?
- For most people, an average of six treatments to start is recommended. How many treatments you need depends on which area you are having treated, how completely you want to remove the hair, hair thickness, pain tolerance, your genetic background and how strictly you follow the treatment schedule recommended by your technician. For those with hormonal imbalances, you will most likely need additional sessions to achieve ideal results. Laser is also the only effective way to reduce ingrown hairs. You’ll see dramatic results even after just having your first treatment.

How often should you get treatments?
Your sessions must be scheduled consistently every 4 weeks. After you complete 3-4 sessions, we will extend your next appointment to 6+ weeks. The more treatments you complete, the slower the growth will become. Therefore, the sessions will be spaced out further. Only shave once in between sessions, preferably the day before each appointment.
Does it hurt?
Most individuals experience either no pain or no more than a slight pinching sensation as the laser pulses are applied. Some parts of the body do tend to be more sensitive than others.
Pre-Treatment Guidelines
- Please limit sun exposure. Use plenty of sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30.
- No self tanners or spray tanning for at least 2-3 weeks prior to treatment.
- Please remove any makeup, creams, lotions prior to treatment.
- Do not use antibiotics or any medication that may cause sensitivity towards light or sun. If you are taking antibiotics for illness, treatment may resume 2 weeks after your course is finished.
- Please shave the area 12-24 hours prior to treatment, but avoid any hair removal treatments, such as waxing, that remove the hair follicle for 6 weeks prior to your treatment.
- You must be off Accutane for 6 months prior to service.
- Avoid topical Retin-A, any acids (salicylic acid, glycolic acids), or any exfoliants for 3 days prior treatment.
